Feedback Engine is an online method of enabling people who share a passion to connect with each other in order to deepen their skills or collaborate on arriving at consensus on a particular question. The Feedback Engine is a back end process for web sites that already have an established community that would like to enrich their users experience by offering a contest, offering automated facilitation of discussions to reach consensus on a question, or educate them to a particular standard.
Don Berg created the Feedback Engine idea and is looking for teammates to flesh it out. Who wants to play?

I talked with some students about the Working Weekend over Paideia and have seen the on-campus publicity materials (a table tent, poster on Saturday panels, eight-page pamphlet on the Fri-Sun startup series). I think it would help quite a bit to post some general explanation so students understand where these sort of things fit into the general career/business landscape and *particularly* the VC/pitch ecosystem.
Such an explanation and more orientation well before Friday would, I think, increase the number and quality of attendees for an event that begins on a Friday evening and lasts until noon Sunday.

Hi Zach, I’m really interested in reducing household energy use and cutting down waste! I have an idea for a small solar panel that directly powers specific smaller plug-in appliances (blenders, toasters, microwaves etc) as well as providing a solar connected outlet for people to plug in chargers for things like phones, computers, cameras, lamps etc. It’s a way for people who cannot afford to install large solar systems to power their entire home to still cut down energy bills by using solar energy for extras. Are you interested in encompassing this type of technology into your idea?
My idea can definitely encompass adding solar power at the household level, and in fact has at the heart of its motivation laying down the infrastructure for easy integration of renewable energy technologies. Email me at zachbabb@me.com and we can talk more.
My friend Akash and I are pitching our idea: A computer program to recognize emotion in human voice to benefit people, especially children, with autism. We have developed a working program and have been recognized by many science fairs, filed for a utility patent, and were featured in the NY Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/27/magazine/mag-27science-t.html) and on NPR Science Friday (http://www.npr.org/2010/12/10/131967508/Teaching-Computers-To-Be-More-Empathetic). Seeking techie types to help bring Art Handlr to life! Art Handlr is a sales portal and social networking site & app for artists that dramatically cuts down gallery commissions, allowing artists to retain a larger percentage of income while reducing overall prices, making art purchases more available to buyers of various income sectors.
Artists will submit a portfolio for review to join the site, just as they would in the gallery signing process. Accepted artists will then be given a sales portal with a section featuring their CV and blog. Artists and buyers will be able to connect with each other in social networking-style communities, with news feeds, forums, and groups.
I am an artist, journalist, and art historian with a strong interest in web and app-based art sales. I am currently writing a thesis on labor economics in the art world and would like to help contribute to structural economic changes that allow artists to gain more direct control of the business aspect of their practices.
I have very few programming/platform skills and desperately need a tech team for Start-Up!

I am working on a non-profit microfinance/financial literacy idea which aims to offer low-income clients in the US microlending and microsavings services after they have completed a financial literacy course. Ultimately, successful clients should find themselves financially sound enough to be able to access traditional means of banking and capital.
